Jerry Opland received much of his musical training from his father, Arnold Opland, who directed champion bands out of Bottineau, ND.  He also studied under Robert Bruce, an American Indian cornet soloist. He had a rich back ground of performance and  performed with The Saint Croix Brass and The Salvation Army Lakewood Corps Band.  He was a member of the Sheldon Theatre Brass Band, The Salvation Army Brass Band of the North, and Chatfield Minnesota Brass Band.  In the Sheldon Band, he played all the cornet parts over time, Soprano, Solo, Repiano, 2nd, and 3rd.

Below is the Saint Croix Brass with Jerry and  Lance Paulson on cornet.  Jerry’s brother, Dennis, is on baritone and  Gary Skundberg is on trombone.

Tech-Oil is used by Jerry, Lance and Dennis.  Originating in 1984 they are favorites at weddings, church services, and concerts.
